Paso Robles Press Clipping

Rebecca Pidgeon's Decca Records (Universal) debut release - Slingshot - hit stores and online platforms April 17th to rave reviews.
The AP wrote: 'The album showcases her crystaline voice, guitar and songwriting skills.' The Chicago Tribune raved:
'Rebecca Pidgeon plays guitar and sings with appealing authority on her new album, Slingshot, a stunning gathering of tunes.'

Rebecca hits the road with Rusted Root on May 6th thru May 15th, and will be touring the west coast with acclaimed singer/songwriter Madeline Peyroux in late August. Last year Rebecca toured with the legendary Keb Mo, was the only woman to perform at Farm Aid, and headlined her own Wine, Women, and Song tour throughout the spring and summer. Rebecca will aso be appearing in the HBO movie about infamous producer Phil Spector, starring Al Pacino, and wriiten and directed by her husband, playwright-director David Mamet. Rebecca's version of 'Spanish Harlem' will also be featured in the film.

Pidgeon, who has also shared stages with such artists as Aimee Mann, Madeleine Peyroux, Jeffrey Gaines, and Peter Himmelman, joined founders Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young at the 2011 edition of Farm Aid, Aug. 13.

Singer-songwriter REBECCA PIDGEON
“HITS MARK” with new album SLINGSHOT
National tour begins in Northeast!

April 18, 2012 – (New York, NY) -- Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and actress Rebecca Pidgeon’s new album SLINGSHOT (Decca Records/Universal) “hits mark” announces the Boston Globe and San Francisco Chronicle.

“A dark and enchanting sixth album” headlines the Washington Post while the Chicago Tribune calls Slingshot a “stunning gathering of tunes.” A glowing Associated Press review says “Rebecca Pidgeon surfaces for the sixth time from her other artistic career — acting — to put together an easy listening album that showcases her crystalline voice, guitar and songwriting skills… In fact, the eerily dark lyrics are the strong suit of the record. The singer manages to lend the pop production extra depth that comes from longing (”I’ll stop this sighing/I’ll break this sadness/ Something calls me/In the darkness”), loving (”But you are picture perfect/And we talk into the night”) and living (”You couldn’t find the corkscrew/So we drank beer instead/Then we played catch until morning”). The largely a cappella “Baby Please Come Home” showcases Pidgeon’s vibrating vocals and opens a strange time capsule where one hears echoes of Sarah McLachlan’s hit “Angel…”

Recorded in Los Angeles, Slingshot is an intoxicatingly adult pop album that explores the intricate arc of love from desire to longing to despair and is the third collaboration between Pidgeon and Grammy Award-winning producer Larry Klein. Rolling Stone has called Pidgeon “one of those rare singers who conveys emotion purely…”“

Slingshot also features the electric driving AAA single “Disintegration Man” http://rebeccapidgeonmusic.com/videos , the deceptively jaunty “I Love No One.” and the jazzy, noir-ish “A Lonely Place.” The lone cover on the set is a stirring, poignant version of Warren Zevon’s “Searching for a Heart” that was recently featured in Covert Affairs.

Pidgeon begins touring with alternative rock/world jam band Rusted Root in May, including shows at DC’s 9:30 Club (May 6) and NYC’s, Highline Ballroom (May 8) She recently completed filming the Phil Spector biopic for HBO alongside Al Pacino and Helen Mirren slated for release in early 2013.
